The Moore Tool Company is an American precision manufacturing company based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Its machine-tool history is closely connected with the development of jig boring and jig grinding. Jig borers were created to position holes and features with exceptional control, while jig grinders made it possible to finish those features accurately after heat treatment.
Moore machines consequently became associated with die work, molds, gauges, precision tooling, and components containing closely controlled bores or contours. Conventional Moore jig grinders use specialized high-speed grinding heads and accurately guided table movements. Later CNC models added continuous-path capability for producing more complex profiles and reducing dependence on manual positioning.
